Claude Duet vs ChatGPT dots vs Muse from Meta
Short version: all three are always-on AI agents with their own computer in the cloud, and the big difference is who can get one today. Muse from Meta is the only one with a free tier, and its paid plans start at $20 a month, but it's in limited testing in a few countries. Claude Duet costs nothing extra if you already pay for Claude Pro or Max, but it's US-only and you need a waitlist invite. ChatGPT dots needs ChatGPT Pro, from $100 a month, or a Business Premium or Enterprise seat, and it's still rolling out.
Each one keeps working after you close the app and comes back to you for decisions. Duet is designed to ask before it sends a message, pays, signs a document or deletes anything. Meta says nothing in Muse sends or spends without your approval. Dots run automatic approval checks that decide when a step needs your OK.

Where Claude Duet stands out
- It starts with the Claude you've set up. Your memory, skills and connectors from Claude are there from the first message.
- A morning brief. Each morning it looks across your email and calendar, picks what needs you, and can start drafting replies for you to review.
- Big jobs come back as files. Ask for a research brief, a financial model, a slide deck or a dashboard, and you get a file you can edit.
- Purchases you approve. It can pay with Link or Shop Pay, using a one-time card for each purchase.
Watch out for: you can't pick the model, since it runs on Claude Opus 5.5, and you can't watch or take over its browser. It doesn't call or text other people. Its background checks count against your Claude limits, so you may hit them sooner than with chat alone.
Where ChatGPT dots stand out
- Talk to it anywhere. Message it or call it in ChatGPT, or message it in Slack or Microsoft Teams. It's the same dot, with the same memory, in every place.
- You can take over. Open your dot's cloud computer and take control of its browser when you want to do a step yourself.
- It can use your own computer. Connect one personal computer and your dot can work with its files and apps while the ChatGPT app is open.
- Chats don't eat your limits. Conversations with your dot don't count toward your ChatGPT usage limits. Work and Codex tasks it starts still count.
Watch out for: the price. The cheapest way in is $100 a month, Pro is billed monthly only, and Pro plans don't include dots in the EEA, UK or Switzerland.
Where Muse stands out
- The only free tier. You can try it without paying, and paid plans start at $20 a month.
- It chats where you already do. Use the Muse app on your phone or Mac, or message it in WhatsApp.
- A computer you can step into. Muse runs on its own cloud computer with a full browser, and you can step in at any point.
- Shopping safeguards. At checkout it makes a one-time card number, so your real card stays hidden from the store and from the agent. Meta says your Muse chats aren't shared with its ad systems.
Watch out for: Muse is in limited testing, and Meta names only the US, Canada and Japan so far. Usage is measured in weekly Muse tokens, and Meta's subscriptions page doesn't say how much the free tier includes.

- You want to try a personal agent for free: Muse, if it's available where you live.
- Your work happens in Slack or Teams, or you'd like to call your agent: ChatGPT dots, if $100 a month is worth it to you.

- You live in the EU, the UK or Switzerland: none of the three is open to you on a personal plan today. ChatGPT Business Premium and Enterprise are rolling out worldwide.
